New Approaches in Doing Business with the Arab World

The Chamber and SGS Belgium organize a seminar on new approaches in doing business with the Arab world on September 22nd, 2011, in the premises of SGS in Antwerp. The Arab world, a market of about 360 million customers, caracterised by growing demand for new products and services, and a major opportunity for foreign investors. The seminar in Antwerp will focus on market procedures, business traditions and key market considerations for investors and exporters alike. More information is to follow, yet it is important to save that date wright now.

Economic Mission to Kuwait

10-12 October 2011

The Chamber organizes an economic mission to the State of Kuwait in October. Economic and commercial relations with the country are indeed to benefit from the recent developments and programmes introduces by the authorities. The Kuwaiti government has adopted an economic development plan spanning five years (2010-2014). The plan, with a total value of 35 billion Kuwaiti dinar (125 billion US dollar), will be followed by other plans in order to transform Kuwait into a financial and commercial center for the region by 2035.

The plan includes infrastructures projects covering the various sectors of the economy : oil and gas, electricity and water, construction, urban infrastructure, communications, health and education. During the first year of the plan (2010-2011), 884 projects of various sizes have been approved for a total value of 5 billion dinar (16 billion dollars).

The private sector is associated with these projects through procurement, contracting and subcontracting, while several projects will be awarded on the basis of Public Private Partnerships. The plan is to have a significant on the private sector, leading to a vast revival of economic activities.

The projects require the use of various products and services and small and medium-sized companies may therefore well find their way through these important business opportunities.

The Chamber mission is organized with the support of the Belgian embassy in Kuwait and the assistance of H.E. Mr. Damien Angelet, Ambassador, and Mr. Mounif Kilani, Economic and Commercial Attaché.
